PRESS RELEASE
GOOD TRAINING SESSION FOR THE FOUR “BLUE MUSKETEERS” OF THE TM/RACING BERLONI TEAM AT THE GENOA INDOOR
Genoa, Sports Palace, Saturday February 4th 2006 – At a week exactly from the heavy snowstorm that had blocked Genoa, a warm sun welcomed the participants of the second edition of the Indoor Enduro run on Saturday afternoon in the Sports Palace of the Liguria capital. A race eagerly awaited by the almost five thousand spectators who had come to follow the development of many among the best Enduro riders of the World. The TM RACING / BERLONI team appeared at this first 2006 appointment with its four factory riders, affectionately defined by everyone as the “Four blue musketeers” because of the colour of our motorbikes and the look of the new Sinisalo clothes. On a track characterised by the special extreme tests, the times registered by the TM RACING / BERLONI Team riders were immediately very comforting even if the orders for everyone in the team were not to expose themselves to unnecessary risks in a race in which the enthusiasm of the public could lead to dangerous excesses in riding. Petri Pohjamo was in splendid form bringing the renewed 2-stroke TM 125 into a race for the first time, while the new arrival, the Scottish man Euan McConnell, made his debut with the new 4-stroke TM 450. The young Australian, Jacob Stapleton, instead, increased his confidence with the 2-stroke TM 250 that he will use in the World Junior Championship. An important amount of work to develop new technical solutions for the class E3 World Championship was done by the Italian Absolute champion, Alessio Paoli, who raced with the 2-stroke TM 300.
“We are satisfied with our riders’ practices” – commented Tony Amoriello, TM marketing manager –
“The important thing for all of us is to return to racing trying to achieve the best feeling in riding against with those riders who
could be among our rivals in the World Championship. Everybody behaved well in spite of a number of skids on the most slippery tracts that prevented Pohjamo, McConnell and Stapleton reaching the final. Paoli instead, reached the final even if our rider was really unfortunate. He started well but was forced to retire because the rear tire fell out of the rim while he was in the fight for the podium.
Extremely bad luck; it was probably caused by violent contact of the rear wheel with stones that caused the tire to fall out of the rim. A drawback really more unique than rare”.
It was a positive day, the team is working extremely hard in the best way to get to the first practice of the Italian Absolutes in Sicily and immediately afterwards to the Swedish GP”.
- the words of Alessio Paoli -
“We have taken another step ahead in adding power, improving the behaviour of the engine of my 2-stroke TM 300. I thank Tullio Provini and all the team for the commitment and passion with which they are working; it is a pleasure to work with people like that”.
The TM RACING / BERLONI Team will organize the official presentation of his sports activities at the end of February in Pesaro.
