TM  RACING AT A HAIR’S BREADTH FROM THE S1 PODIUM AT THE DEBUT OF THE SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The azure riders of the Pesaro TM were protagonists at the opening round of the Supermoto world championship, obtaining fifth place in the S1 class of the world championship with Robert Baraccani. On the Pavia track of Castelletto di Branduzzo, consisting only in part on asphalt as the all-terrain zone had been eliminated because of the rain that fell during the night before, Robert was the author of two convincing performances, the first a decisive recovery from the rear, where he had finished because of a slide due to liquid on the track not signalled, to seventh place. At the start of race 2, Baraccani took his TM SMX 530F once more to the top positions, steadily maintaining fifth position from halfway through the race onwards. His teammate, Simone Girolami, had a less satisfying race, protagonist of an unfortunate starting group where he was the involuntary victim of two falls that relegated him to twentieth position. Simone made it up in the next round, taking his powerful TM SMX 700F up to eighth place. Fabio Balducci’s world championship debut was also decisively unfortunate. After the promising start of the season, he came to the Grand Prix highly motivated and a competitive TM SMX 450F equipped with electronic injection induction. Unfortunately, Fabio had trouble with the clutch in the opening race, slowing him down considerably and having to make do with 18th place, while in the other, despite the lack of all-terrain, he gained a decent eighth place. The second world championship round will take place on May 28 at  Villars Sous Ecot (France).

BALDUCCI (S2)

“……In race 1  I started in about tenth place, I caught up as far as fifth but then a problem with the clutch forced me to slow down and conclude the race in 18th place. In the other, things went a bit better because I ended 8th , but the closure of the all-terrain part of the track penalised me because the setting of the motorbike was optimal for all-terrain part……”.

GIROLAMI (S1)

“…..At the end of the straight track at the start, a rider fell in front of me, I slowed down to avoid him but I was collided into and, in my turn, ended up on the ground. After having restarted, almost as if deliberately, I fell flat  on my back on a non-signalled patch of oil left behind by the motorbike of a competing rider. After this I only tried to finish the race to obtain a few points. In the second race I started behind once more, catching up to eighth place, a result that satisfies me, seeing that I clocked up third best time. Now I have to concentrate on managing the considerable power of my motor best to be able to start better. Apart from that, the motorbike has behaved extremely well……”.

BARACCANI (S1)

“……Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to exploit my start in fifth place in race 1 because I slid shortly after the start because of liquid left at a bend by a motorbike. I caught up to 7th place and I think I couldn’t have done better than that seeing that they had eliminated the all-terrain part of the track where I would have had a greater possibility of recovering. In the second one, I started well again, keeping up to the rhythm of my strongest adversaries in spite of the lower power of my motorbike, finishing absolute fifth…..”.
