CZECH REPUBLIC GP 2nd and 3rd JULY 2005

Fifth round of the Enduro world championship.

GOOD RACE OF THE TM RACING/BERLONI Team RIDERS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC GP

"A race completely worth framing”. This is how we can synthesis the five TM RACING/BERLONI team riders’ race in the Czech Republic GP, contested Saturday and Sunday at Most, around eighty kilometres north of the capital Prague. Indeed, because Petri Pohjamo, on returning to the race after the ugly fracture to his left elbow, suffered three months ago in the first GP of the season in Spain, obtained a fifth and ninth place, worth their weight in gold. Pohjamo, on the saddle of the TM 450 4T,demonstrated on Saturday that he was able to compete with the leaders, while on Sunday he felt the lack of practice, falling back above all in the final stages of the race.

"I’m extremely pleased with this result” – was Pohjamo’s comment under the huge TM Racing Berloni Team assistance tent - “On Saturday I was also able to obtain good times in the special tests. I thought I could get something more but it was impossible because I only restarted practising a few weeks ago and my elbow is still hurting me a lot”.

If Pohjamo showed his grand class, another of the TM factory riders, but inside the Electraction team, astonished everyone on returning from the injury that stopped him taking part in the Low Countries GP in Gernika – the young Australian Jakob Stapleton. Third on Saturday because of some slides in the specials, Stapleton was extremely courageous on Sunday, challenging the victory of the leader of the Junior world championship, the Spaniard Guerrero, to the last.

"I’m especially satisfied today because I was able to compete for victory with Guerrero to the last, collecting many points in the world championship classification” - was Stapleton’s comment.

A positive race also for Alessio Paoli in spite of a fall on Saturday in the extreme special test, losing at least half a minute, while on Sunday he finished seventh.

"It was a very particular and difficult race as it only took a second to lose precious points. The specials are in fact short and the separations have also been reduced a great deal” - were Paoli’s words.

And, finally, a regular race for Roman Michalik who returned after an injury to his hand, finishing tenth and eleventh, and Rickard Larsson who on Saturday took his TM 250F to eighth place, while on Sunday he had to retire because of a distortion to his thumb.

Next appointment for the TM RACING/BERLONI Enduro Team will be the French GP, sixth round of the enduro world championship, programmed for July in Digne.
